Those NRC licensees who generate mixed (radioactive and hazardous) waste
should carefully review the EPA, "Extension of the Policy on Enforcement of
RCRA Section 3004(j) Storage Prohibition at Facilities Generating Mixed
Radioactive/Hazardous Waste", published in the Federal Register on November
6,
1998 (pages 59989ff). The EPA seems to be giving increased emphasis to
generator efforts to find commercially available treatment technology.
