It appears from my reading that the Final 10 CFR 835, published 
Federal Register / Vol. 63, No. 213 / Wednesday, November 4, 
1998 with an effective date of December 4, 1998, does not now 
define background radiation, and, makes no reference to radon at 
all. 

I agree with Steve Rima that radon background should not be 
included in occupational dose records.
