Am-241 depositions

Dear radsafers, does anybody have some information on Am-241 (or Pu-241)
depositions from global nuclear fall-out ? Do smoke detector factories
release Am-241 to the atmosphere ? 
(Right now in Germany Pu is discussed as reason for creating a leucemia
cluster close to a NPP. There is a claim that up to 3 Bq/kg Am-241 were
found in dust probes taken in uncleaned lofts.)
