Radon Help - Power Reactor
Clinton Station is gathering information on the use of a product called
"Static Guard". This is sometimes used to reduce static charge on personal
clothing on days when Radon is hampering plant egress. Please reply to the
following questions:
1. Do you use the product (or something similar)?
2. What information do you have on its effectiveness?
3. Is it applied to clothing BEFORE entering the RCA or AFTER receiving a
PCM alarm?
4. If you allow it to be applied AFTER a PCM alarm, have you been
challenged with any issues?
5. If a worker fails the PCM due to Radon, do you allow a manual frisk and
release? What criteria do you use?
In addition:
6. Do you use any other techniques to minimize the impact of Radon on
personnel egress (i.e. static eliminator fans, humidity booths, fabric
softener sheets, etc...)? How effective?
7. Do you allow workers to wipe-down their OWN hard hats BEFORE entering
the PCM (i.e. no RP involvement)?
Please respond to me directly, and thanks in advance for your help.
