Biphysical Aspects of Auger Process

Fourth International Symposium on
Biophysical Aspects of Auger Processes
July 15 - 16, 1999
Lund University, Lund, Sweden

The Department of Radiation Physics and Lund University have the great pleasure to arrange the Fourth International Auger Electron Symposium.

The scientific meeting will share new experiences and exchange the latest scientific information in the field of biophysical effects and dosimetry of Auger electrons.

The symposium will assemble the scientific expertise of the world and several investigators working in a pamphlet of fields covering radiation protection guidelines, decay processes, Auger cascade development, energy transport of ionising radiation, interaction of radiation in tissue, -cells, -cell nucleus as well as research in the treatment of cancer.

The symposium will also provide a forum for the exchanging of techniques and ideas that are necessary for future progress. The aim is also to introduce and encourage young scientists to pursue careers in this field, the importance of which is being increasingly recognised. Presentations at the meeting will be publicised as scientific papers in ACTA Oncologica.

The field of Auger electron research has a fast progress and the great interest is constantly increasing. The meeting will encompass the latest scientific knowledge on physical, chemical and biological aspects of Auger processes, including:

Biological effects of Auger-electron emitting radionuclides.
Biological effects of photon induced Auger Processes.
Physical mechanisms responsible for the Auger-effect.
Cellular dosimetry and microdosimetry of Auger processes
Therapeutic applications of Auger processes.
Radiation protection against Auger-electrons
