RE: History of X-Rays
The connection between AIDS and ionizing radiation is so far-fetched I can't
believe it! There is a very good book that chronicles the early spread of
AIDS: AND THE BAND PLAYED ON by Randy Shilts.
Clearly only my own opinion

I don't have the Nature reference, but there is an article in the on
line version of the NY Times in its Science and Health section.

There was also a story with interviews on the BBC today.
Apparently, the first confirmed HIV infection occurred in the late
1950's or early 60's
In Deadly Deceit, Sternglass and Gould reiterate the AIDS/radiation
link along with a host of other associations.
