Re: Survey Instrument calibration frequency
Dear Jim -
My understanding is that use of instruments to perform a survey requires
annual calibration because the survey is considered a legal document.
Surveys are typically performed for regulatory purposes (for example,
monthly contamination surveys) are recorded and signed, and the survey
records are retained for a period of time.
Use of instruments for information (identifying contamination, rad sources)
only requires the instruments be verified to work properly. This
information may or may not be recorded and maintained.
This is based on my discussion with some of our regulators last year.
Andy
