Balt-Wash Chapter HPS Meeting

I just received this notice.  If you're going to be in the Washington DC
area you might want to attend:

The fourth meeting of the season of the Baltimore-Washington Chapter of the
Health Physics Society will be at the Goddard Space Flight Center.

The featured speaker will be Mr. Mike Schaeffer of the Defense Threat
Reduction Agency. (The part of DTRA Mike works for used to be called the
Defense Special Weapons Agency, earlier the Defense Nuclear Agency, and
even earlier, the Defense Atomic Support Agency!) He will be talking about
radiation safety and other topics having to do with the DoD nuclear weapons
community.

Mr. Schaeffer has been with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and its
predecessors for many years and has a lot of stories he can tell about
unclassified nuclear weapons accidents and incidents.

Special Note: The guard at the Goddard gate must have your name in advance
so that you can go through. Be sure to make reservations with Janna as
described below. She will forward the list of names to Goddard on Monday
afternoon.

      7:00 - 8:00 PM Dinner (steak and prime rib; perhaps shrimp) ($20.00)
      8:00 - 9:00 PM Talk
Location:      Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland.

and telephone number. Reservation cutoff is noon on Monday, February 22. If
you wish to cancel your reservation, you must do so at least twenty-four
hours prior to the dinner or we may have to ask you to pay for the meal
anyway. You can leave a message for Janna at (301) 975-5804, but she
prefers e-mail.
