As reported yesterday by Gary Schroeder, health physicists have lost a
respected and distinguished colleague.  He was quick to lend a hand to
those seeking information, he didn't hesitate or shy away from tackling
contentious issues, and always presented a demeanor of friendship and
caring.  One could see this clearly in his so frequent, careful, replies
to RADSAFE queries.  We have also sadly lost a friend.  Ed Kaplan
