Indeed, trace quantities of blood pressure drugs, birth control drugs,
and other common medications (from excretion of incompletely metabolized
doses) are now ubiquitious in waters downstream of cities (such waters,
of course, are water supplies for other cities).  Concerns are being
raised regarding the health effects of long-term exposure to traces of
these compounds.
