RE: RAM DOT Fees



Well, I realize it has an impact on the registration program, and the
fees paid by industry, but as a responder, I've always been a little
uncomfortable with the fact that you can put 40,000 lbs. of White-I and
Yellow-II labeled RAM on a tractor-trailer without placarding, while you
must have a placard for a car with one Yellow-III.

I'd like to see a good risk-based review of that part of the
regulations.

The bigger impact is not in the registration program, but in the
operational side: Once you require placards, the driver's need CDL's and
Drug and Alcohol testing.
