Meeting Announcement



U.S. EPA, U.S. NRC, and U.S. DOE are hosting an International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA) Symposium on the restoration of environments with radioactive
residues.  The Symposium will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in
Arlington, VA, USA from November 29 - December 3, 1999. The Symposium will
focus on exchanging information and experiences from IAEA Member States on
radioactive site restoration.  It will be of particular interest to health
physicists, environmental engineers, radiation protection experts,
regulatory agencies, senior policy makers, and industry representatives.
The Symposium will address the following topics: national and international
policies and criteria for radiological cleanups; radiological assessment of
sites with radioactive residues; strategies, remediation techniques and
technologies, and safe waste management for radiological cleanups; and
decision making and involvement of interested parties in policy
implementation.  Papers that fall within the Symposium topics may be
submitted as contributions to the Symposium.  Contributed papers will not be
presented orally, but included in a book to be distributed at the Symposium.
Abstracts should be in English and should not exceed a half page in length.
Abstracts must be received by IAEA by May 15, 1999 along with a
Participation Form (Form A) and a Form for Submission of Papers (Form B).
