AmerGen buying two more U.S. nuclear reactors -FT

LONDON, June 14 (Reuters) - Power generator AmerGen Energy Co is
buying two U.S. nuclear reactors in a deal that could be worth up to
375 million pounds ($605 million), the Financial Times reported on
Monday.

AmerGen, a joint venture between British Energy Plc (quote from
Yahoo! UK & Ireland: BGY.L) and U.S.-based PECO Energy (NYSE:PE -
news), was buying two boiling-water reactors in New York state owned
by the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp utility (NYSE:NMK - news), the
newspaper said.

It did not identify its sources and said British Energy had declined
to comment on the deal.

The report did not say how AmerGen would finance the acquisitions.

The two reactors would have a combined capacity of nearly 1,800 MW.

AmerGen has already bought the Three Mile Island 1 nuclear plant in
Pennsylvania and is in the process of buying the Clinton nuclear
plant in Illinois.

($1 = 0.6196 pounds)
