Thanks.  I got a web site address and it is some form of x-ray scatter
detection system.  I haven't had the chance to look at it too closely.

I vaguely remember seeing something about the use of this device on some
show or another (perhaps on the Learning Channel). I believe it was in use
by the US Border Patrol.  A call to the HR department of INS (they are
responsible for ES&H) could probably yield some good info.
