I got a web site address from another respondent.  A company in MA makes it
and it is some form of x-ray scatter.  Don't know about dose.  Haven't
really had a chance to look at it close yet.

There was some discussion at the last Conference of Radiation Control
Program Directors' (CRCPD) meeting about an x-ray machine that uses
MV energies to look inside these vehicles. These folks could have gotten
quite an exposure. The discussion revolved around concerns for
individuals in the vehicles, as well as environmental & training issues.
It's
unknown what kind of training the operators have.
