ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST

OAK RIDGE INSTITUTE FOR SCIENCE AND EDUCATION (ORISE)
Oak Ridge, Tennessee

EXEMPT, EEO-1 Category - Professional 

PURPOSE:  To assist with the coordination and daily management of the
independent verification team (IVT) at the East Tennessee Technology Park
(ETTP)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE: 

*	Working with Survey Projects Manager to coordinate, schedule and
track program IVT  Project activities at the ETTP site, including site-wide
independent verification on the Oak Ridge Reservation (ORR).
 
*	Collaborating with DOE funding personnel, project site organization
managers, survey Projects Manager and program administration to address
issues, resolve conflicts, and develop scopes of work and cost estimates for
special ORR IVT projects.

*	Planning/performing special projects/conducting special reviews. 

*	Tracking overall project activities, workloads, schedules,
subcontracts and budgets for reporting to the Survey Projects Manager and
DOE Task Manager to include monitoring project results and reports to assure
that accuracy and quality conforms to data quality objectives and program
requirements.

*	Identifying new IVO opportunities and working with Survey Projects
Manager and Assistant Program Director to pursue implementation.

REQUIREMENTS:  M.S. in Health Physics or related scientific field and four
to six years of related experience. Necessary experience to include project
management, technical documentation, radiological and hazardous material
investigation, with excellent communication skills. Must possess in-depth
knowledge of environmental remediation including clean-up technologies,
release standards and a complete understanding and ability to interpret
regulatory agency guidelines and regulations.  Also required is strong
project management skills such as budgeting, subcontract management, and
client interface and support.
