AAIH/AIHA merger?

Below is a note that may be of interest regarding a vote to merge the
American Academy of Industrial Hygiene
and the American Industrial Hygiene Association. I believe they may serve
similar respective functions as the
AAHP and HPS.

I thought you would be interested in the following e-mail I received from
Loren Anderson, President-Elect of the American Academy of Industrial
Hygiene.

****************************
On the vote of AAIH members on whether to pursue a merger with
AIHA.........

The American Academy of Industrial Hygiene (AAIH) received 2,633 ballots of
the 5976 sent out), which is about 44%. The vote count was 2,391 votes in
favor of merger with AIHA and 242 votes against. This is about 91% in
favor of the merger. This is about the same proportion of AAIH members who
voted in favor of the "Unification Task Force Report" to merge the four IH
organizations.

The next step is for AIHA to send a Ballot to change their Bylaws and
create the Academy within their organization. If that succeeds, the ABIH
will dissolve that Academy and the merger process will be complete. The
next step will be for AIHA and AAIH to do the transition planning necessary
for the merger to be succesful.

Thanks for all of your support. This is an important result for the
organizational future of industrial hygienists.

Loren Anderson
President Elect, AAIH
