Fellow RadSafers -

Fritz is quite correct. Changes in electron density can influence half-life 
of electron-capture radionuclides. Supplementing more involved treatments in 
the literature, the booklet form of the General Electric Chart of The 
Nuclides features a nice little narrative on this relationship, too.
