Re[2]: Oak Ridge workers'

>>Not many workers claim that the radioactivity is implicated in the
illnesses, although some feel that Uranium as a chemical agent may be a
problem.<<

Regardless, unfortunately, of whether or not the workers, attorneys, and
physicians are blaming radioactive substances for these maladies, it's this kind
of story that adds fuel to the "no-nukes" arguments of "what a wonderful world
it'd be without nuclear power". I wish, for once, the reporters would put DOE's
health and safety statistics into perspective with those of other industries.
That would doubtless shine a much different light on things. But then, where
else but a large WWII era DOE site can you stay employed for 35 + years in the
same job, get a cushy golden parachute, and a legal settlement besides to pad
your retirement from those who supported you all your working life? Forgive me
if I'm oversimplifying things here or placing blame where it's not due.

Just my own opinion.
