RE: GM Counters in High Backgrounds



If the net count rate increases in low background areas, I would suspect there
is a bias in the calibration factor for one of the ranges, or some detector
dead-time is unaccounted for.

I replied with the real world problems using a frisker in a high background
area. Theory is nice with all those COOL calculations. What I believe you are
looking for is some raw data. Try it yourself. Count a smear in both location
and see what you get. The best response I have seen yet is from Rodney Bauman.
