I have EXCEL spreadsheet programs which perform
the calculations of TEDE as done in Appendix B to NRC Reg Guide 8.39, Release of
Patients Administered Radioactive Material. There is one program for I-131
treatment of hyperthyroidism and another program for I-131 for thyroid
carcinoma. The programs take into account occupancy factor, uptake
fraction, and effective half-life. Safety instructions for the patient are
included. These programs have successfully passed an NRC inspection last
year.
I would be interested to hear from anyone else
who uses such a program, specifically as to what feedback they have gotten from
