RE: Biological Sampling Methodology Question



Here at the INEEL the samples taken in the field were the entire liver, the
thyroid, and > 1 kg. of muscle, usually from the rump.  Thyroid would
probably not be pertinent to your study.  The liver was liquefied and an
aliquot of about 500 ml., in a standard sample jar, was analyzed with a GeLi
system. The muscle was macerated and placed in a Marinelli jar for analysis
by another GeLi (I think).

If helpful, results of these are in the INEEL yearly environmental reports,
but most samples were pronghorn and sheep, rather than elk and cattle.

I can provide operational insights on the actual sampling if desired, but
not here; it is both off-topic and likely to make the more sensitive among
us lose their appetites.  I was the resident ghoul for a number of years
