Educational "Nuclear Wall Chart" for schools

Nov. 26

While surfing the net I found a "Nuclear Wall Chart" prepared by Lawrence
Berkeley National Labs. It may be viewed at
<http://user88.lbl.gov/NSD_docs/abc/wallchart.html>. The chart is
available in three sizes. The URL has links to order it, and a teacher's
guide; and a few other links.

This URL has a picture of the chart and each section of it can be clicked
on to view a larger version of that section. It lists six nuclear
applications (radioactive dating, smoke detectors, space exploration,
nuclear medicine, nuclear reactors, and magnetic resonance imaging).

The chart is only available for sale to certified science teachers and
home schools, but there might be a way around this. This might be a good
item for presentation to local schools, private or otherwise, to give
students some sound education about the atom, radioactive decay, and the
uses of the atom. It could also serve to establish a rapport between
science teachers and high school students; and the health physicist,
nuclear engineer, etc., who presents it; and possibly lead to invitations
to speak on nuclear topics.

RASDAFERs seem to wish there were opportunities like this -- to speak and
give sound education -- and a gift of this chart might help to pave the way.
