Re: Ag-110m Production



In addition to activation of silver contained in the various reactor components
already mentioned, don't forget the silver in the fuel assemblies themselves if
clad defects exist.

For example, engineering calculations using the ORIGEN2 computer code to support
spent fuel pool cooling calculations show that each spent fuel assembly at Big
Rock Point, 5 days after shutdown with 23,846 MWD/MT burnup, contains 0.135 Ci
of Ag-110m from activation products and 96.4 Ci of Ag-110m as fission product
activity.
