[ RadSafe ] A modest proposal

Whether modest or immodest, using nuclear explosives for this purpose is a great idea. From a technological standpoint, it would almost certainly work, but unfortunately it would be impossible to sell anything "nuclear" to an impressionable public whose minds are locked on to Hiroshima and Chernobyl. Maybe some day rationality may return. Until then, we will just have to continue squandering our limited resources on "feel good" ideas that don't work.

There have been hundreds of fully contained nuclear blasts, and of the blasts that did leak, lessons were learned and applied to subsequent tests. Hell, even the North Koreans can contain a blast. Of course, if it becomes known that nuclear isn't such a big bad boogieman, what could happen next?????
(Obviously) My own personal opinion...
