[ RadSafe ] Crawford F Sams and radiophobia

Dear Franz,

One of Crawford F Sams publications starts with a description of the destruction of Japanese cities by regular bombs compared to the destruction by the atomic bomb. He clearly thinks the destruction is similar. He doesn't mention Dresden, but I myself am very much aware that the number of casualties there was almost as high as in Hiroshima en that regardless of that it was an awful event that words can not possible describe.
Is that enough for you or do you want me to repeat this three times in every sentence I write? I hope not since I thought I was not endorsing (nuclear) warfare or belittling its figures but trying to find out whether the worldwide radiophobia of the past 50 years had possibly some of its roots in war propaganda. 
That is my "agenda" and I still think that my original text gives you no reason to think otherwise.

I cannot confirm, I cannot deny and I have no information about this inhuman
point of view. Wasn't it enough that tens- or hundred-thousands of civilians
died??? I remember (from literature of course and from a private visit to
Nagasaki), that the effects of the Nagasaki bomb was "disappointing",
because of the orographic situation. 

I am not going to check out details about the bomb warfare over Europe, but
what I remember is that the death toll from allied air raids over Europe was
by far higher than the one attributable to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. "Dresden"
seems to have been forgotten. - Refrain from any political comments!!! - 

Is this comment intended to belittle again the Japanese bombings? It has
happened quite often on the US dominated RADSAFE. 

My personal opinion is that the devastation at Hiroshima and Nagasaki should
have been enough to convince US military of the effects and the thousands of
further nuclear tests, very well documented. 

So what? What is your agenda? The agenda of a US Army General, whose army
caused the nuclear disasters in Japan and who restored health care is at
least questionable. 

Please flame me if you US hardlines like to.

Crawford F Sams was a US Army General and doctor who set up/restored
Japanes health care after the dropping of the atomic bomb. He claims
that the 'performance' of the bomb was disappointing, but that the US
government needed a new deterrent (the war had shown that the former
deterrent air-warfare had failed) and this became the bomb/radiation. Th
effects of the bomb had to be presented as large as possible, thus was
the order the General got from Washington. He complied because
understood why the US chose this policy, but warned that it could
backfire, 'Do not believe your own propaganda' he warned. On the net he

article from the 50-ies from hios hand that both clearly suggest that
the current radiophobia was largely government instigated.

Is there anybody here that can confirm or deny this or has more
information?
