It does have a shelf life. All drugs usually have one. It is also
unstable.

Gents, et al.

If it is a USP drug (as: Potassium Iodide, 100 mg, USP), probably
there must needs be an expiration date, pro forma, no?

Cheers

I have always been a little fuzzy on what exactly goes bad with KI in
order to limit its shelf life. I guess if it is in an unsealed
container, subject to high temperatures, high humidity, and maybe
something else, there could be some chemical changes. But in a sealed
container that doesn't react with K and/or I, let alone the salt, it
seems to me that what you get out is what was put in.

Radsafe members:

On behalf of my interim director I pose the query below:

"Please send a Note out to Rad Safe on the issue of other states with
non-EPZ KI distribution and whether any states have requested a shelf
life extension at any time."

I realize that this is primarily, a regulatory issue and may not be
applicable for this forum; however the crux of the question is centered
on extension of KI shelf-life (stability testing). Any input would be
appreciated.
