Electronic records
Hi, I am looking for anyone experience with electronic
record storage and oversite agency response to same.
Preferably in CA.
IS the electronic storing of a survey (lab, xray, etc) as
valid as the same survey stored in a filedrawer? If we have
PI's approve their semi-annual inventory via webpage
(secured with id and PIN) is that as good as a sheet signed
by the PI? These are just a few examples of what I am
talking about. But I think you can get the gist.
We are in the process of rebuilding our database. We are
not sure if we are going in house or vendor, but one of the
questions is how much can we store online and avoid
printing if we can, a back up disk takes up a lot less
space than a year of paper. Yes we also understand the need
for backups and offsite storage.
Thanks for any help and advice.
regards
Andrew

The above are my opinions and not neccesarily those of UCSB.
Have you been sent a virus warning or some other internet plea that you are asked to
forward to everyone you know? Check out http://www.snopes.com first, and see if that
warning or what have you, isn't just another hoax.
