We have to took a lot of soil samples here in Karlstein, in the heart of
germany. Samples at a debth of 0 shows a Cs-137 activity between 15 and 35
Bq/kg (mainly chernobyl fall-out). The activity at a debth greater than 40
cm is nearly zero. Our area isn't dry and the average rainfall is a lot more
than 10 inches a year. We too used Genie2K and HPGe.

So, your results seemed absolute normal.
