Mr. Neon,

I hope that you are aware of being far off the topics of RADSAFE. Would you
please refrain from sending anything similar in the future? We cannot go on
for generations to blaim what has happened dozens and hundreds of years
ago. We cannot argue that certain areas belonged to another state several
thousands of years ago in order to justify claims of territory. In Europe
we seem to have overcome this problem - we Austrians visit Italy and
France, Hungary and the Czech Republic, Romania and the United Kingdom,
Turkey and Egypt, Spain and Belgium and so on, without any bad feelings. We
gladly accept tourists from these states and in my opinion Austrians are
quite open and friendly to them. The citizens of these states visit our
countries and socialise with us, though Vienna was twice besieged by the
Turks, we had enough warfare with France and Italy and the relation with
Hungary and the Czech, as well with the Balkan states was not always
friendly.

We do not count the dead and the missing legs and arms of our former
soldiers who had to fight for the Nazi regime or earlier for all kind of
wars with France, Russia, Italy and other countries. We accept it as the
natural results of unjust warfare and the force to participate in it.

We assume that international treaties and mutual economic dependencies are
a very good instrument to avoid wars and political conflicts. To go back
more than 50 years to repeat accusations is not the right way.

I do not feel any sympathies for the Japanese, maybe because I looked
shortly recently on a book about the massacre at Nanking. I do not feel any
sympathies for Stalin, Hitler, Ceaucescu and the other dictators. But
please stop to hold the people of the respective country guilty what their
"leaders" have done. Look at what has happened in South America during the
last decades - then please, please! stop with your attacks on other
countries as the USA.

I know very well, Melissa, that this off topic - as well as the original
post.

I discourage everybody to answer to RADSAFE. Answers to my private e-mail
are welcome, even flames, if you feel they are appropriate.

Best regards,

Franz
