Re: A Real Solution
Our average bill over 12 months is about $160, of which 1/3 is natural gas,
so the electric bill is $105/ month. We heat our house and our water with
natural gas, and cook, wash, dry, light, refrigerate, run the swamp cooler
pump and the furnace blower, and work on computers with electricity (also
shave, vacuum, listen to the radio). But there are only two of us, although
one of us works at home. For those interested in regulation, my electric
bill went up by a factor of five when I moved from the Seattle City Light
area (a municipal utility) to Public Service of New Mexico (an investor
owned utility) and I had all electricity in Seattle, including space
heating.
