Re: Temelin NPP : " Greenpeace activists block Czech embassy in Vienn

Thank you for the information, Franz. Unfortunately USA Today doesn't
carry much more than hype and press "expert opinion" about this whole
affair. Is "Der Standard" on the net in English? (Being an arrogant
American, I still haven't gotten around to learning German or Austrian)
Sounds like your government plays politics the same way ours does. While I
understand the concern with the hybrid design, maybe it should be pointed
out that the VVER reactor design isn't like the RBMK the was(is) at
Chernobyl. It should also be pointed out that while the RBMK was not a
great design, there would not have been an accident of the magnitude
experienced if the operators had not placed the plant in jeopardy in the
first place. Reactor design is only half of the equation.

Being an Austrian citizen I have deliberately not commented on Temelin
until
now. Let me give some information, which might shed some light on what is
really happening in Austria, regarding Temelin.

"There are much bigger problems in Austria now, especially created by our
new
government, but of course "the show must go on". I do not want to comment
on
the Austrian "experts" involved in the story - this would be too much
honour
for them. Bilateral talks, inviting politicians to visit the NPP and to
check the security measures (!!!) is just a part of the political game in
order to "keep the face"...

I think I wrote already too much, so I might end with the remark, that
everything distributed from my private e-mail address cannot be an official
statement, but only my own brilliant thoughts."
