The beach at Guaparj, Brazil is a high background area, due to the sand

being radioactive .



The Kerala Province of India is also a high background radiation area due to

the soil being monazite sand (from decomposed granite) which contains

uranium and thorium.



But the radiation levels are not as high as the levels which you mentioned.
