Position: 


Senior Technician (will consider

Technician A) for the Reactor Radiation Protection Office, a division of

Environmental Medical service of the Environmental Programs Office at the

Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Senior Technician (will consider

Technician A) - Radiological: Environmental Medical Service to assist in

laboratory research or analytical work under direction or supervision of

scientific personnel.  General radiation protection duties

principally at the MIT 5MW Research Reactor.  Duties include but are

not limited to; operating technical experimental apparatus, repairing and

calibrating various instrumentation, performance and documentation of

radiation surveys, sample preparation, facility decontamination,

packaging and handling of radioactive waste, assist in radiation

shielding and exposure reduction programs, maintenance of radiation

protection equipment and programs including environmental monitoring,

personnel monitoring, effluent monitoring, and various surveillance

items.  In addition, other miscellaneous non-routine/non-schedule

duties are performed as assigned.


Requirements:


Graduation from a two-year "day" technical school or its

equivalent (including applicable experience).  Good written and oral

communication skills.  Training and experience in Radiation

Protection (preferably reactors), and be able to lift 50 pounds.
