Manipulator Port Decontamination

We are decontaminating manipulator ports, which are 10 inch holes through 5 foot shield walls.  The ports are lined with carbon steel.  We are looking for good methods to clean these ports (contamination levels are over one million dpm/100 cm-sq).  We are using brushes (wire then cloth) on drill motors, but are generating a lot of waste.  Does anyone have ideas on cleaning methods that do not generate a lot of waste.  NOTE:  These are old ports and we do have a method to keep them clean once we clean them this time.
