Re:Radiation Shielding Computer Codes
Hmmmmmmm,
From: jpreisig@aol.com
MCNP (Monte Carlo Neutral-Particle Program) is a program that can
be used for neutron and photon shielding geometries --- the shielding geometries
are user designed and can be highly variable. MCNP can be obtained from the
RSIC (Radiation Shielding Infromation Center or whatever it is called these
days). RSIC is at Oak Ridge and Oak Ridge has a web-site. MCNP can
usually be gotten for a fairly small handling charge. RSIC also
distributes many other shielding computer codes and has a catalog which
describes these codes.
Another guess is microshield, but I don't know much about it.
MCNP can be run on personal computer. Especially when personal
computers these days are equivalent to the supercomputers that NASA used
to have 10-15 years ago. 128 MEG RAM, Gigabytes of storage and
fast processing speeds. All for $1,000.00 or thereabouts. And you wonder
why arabs and other people are buying kids computer toys to try
out their defense simulations.
MCNP is a great US product. If you have the time and money to use
it. Good Luck.
