Colorado radiation conspiracy

Re: ARTICLE: Fallout likely caused 15,000 deaths

On the HPS web site the following question was answered: "Is there any

place where I can obtain background radiation readings for the various

states? Will it be possible to determine when these readings were taken and

by whom?"

http://www.hps.org/publicinformation/ate/q689.html

The answer referred to the Idaho State University Web site and also stated

that the answer would be available from individual state health departments.

There is no information on Colorado on the ISU web site. The answer to

Colorado Department of Health Frequently Asked Question #16, "What are

background radiation exposures?" only provides the average US radiation

doses (360 mrem total annual dose). That, of course, is grossly misleading

for the state of Colorado.

I have "Radioactivity and the Environment" by Ronald L. Kathren. On page 40

it has a Table, "Range of Ambient External Radiation Fields from Terrestrial

Sources" that shows that Central City, CO has a field of 2,200 mrad/y. The

Central City web sites only talk about how great the casinos are and where I

can get a hotel room. On page 87 of "Radioactivity and the Environment" is

a table that shows that the Total Mean Annual Whole Body Dose Equivalent

from natural sources of External Gamma Radiation in Colorado is 225 mrem.

The DOE had a sentence in its Total System Assessment Supporting the

Recommendation for using Yucca Mountain that Denver, CO had an annual dose

of about 1,100 mrem/y. That document has been withdrawn from the DOE web

site within the last few days and replaced with another Assessment that does

not have the Denver dose. If I tell a news reporter that some people in

Colorado receive doses of 1 to 2 Rem/y, he will ask me for a source that he

can independently check, preferably a government web site. Is there any

government official who will tell the truth about the high natural

background dose areas in Colorado (name and phone number or email address)

or a web site that has that information? Does anybody know why this

information is being surpressed?

Somebody in Pittsburgh has set up a G-M meter with a real time readout on

the web.

http://www.metafire.com/radmonitor/index.html

Has anyone done that in Colorado or Wyoming? I have done several web

searchs and found no accurate infomation on Colorado.
