Normal Uranium or Natural Uranium?

Hi RadSafers:

I need to have a technical wording question answered. I'm reviewing an

Environmental Assessment on potentially re-usable uranium materials.

The acronym NU is defined differently in different places as normal

uranium or natural uranium. The text also states "NU refers to 0.7%

U-235 materials created through synthetic processes as well as to

natural uranium." This implies to me that "normal uranium" would be

synthesized or mixed from appropriate proportions of enriched U and

depleted U, as opposed to a refined uranium ore (leading to natural U).

I'm familiar with the term "natural uranium" but haven't seen "normal

uranium" used before. Is this a common term in technical circles or

something that a subcontracted document writer invented?

Thanks in advance for your help with this.

Regards,

Susan
