A watchdog group is raising serious new concerns about the
credibility of the Onion of Concerned Scientists, including the
possibility that
demonstrators may bore through the steel barrier that shields the
reactor from the outside world. "We know there's a leak here, and we are
going to be boring 'till we find it!" one demonstrator proclaimed.
The organization, well regarded by anti-nuclear activists, is worried
that many Onion members may be unable or unwilling to rationally
evaluate potiential nuclear reactor problems, or even to do simple tasks
like map a spent fuel shipping route.
"There is pitifully little information being released that
suggests, let alone demonstrates, that these people would know a reator
from a water tower," one souce said.
The scientists' group has a long history of measured,
scientifically based critiques of wacko environmental groups.
