Re: DB liner thinner than first thought - and cracking



I'm a little perturbed at the below statement.  While

it is true that had a LOCA developed due to a ruptured

head, it would have been mitigated by the operable

ECCS system because the hole would have been smaller

than the DBA assumption, the mere fact that people are

having to debate the issue is testament that the

utility didn't do as good a job as they should have

done.



Where did they think the rust that was clogging the

containment filters was coming from?  The handrails? 

A simple analysis of the rust would have identified

the original material and would have made it easy to

narrow down the list of components that it could have

come from - all of which would have made one's hairs

stand up on the back of their neck.



I wonder how many other PWR's may have undiscovered

cracked liners.
