RE: CHEAPEST GM instrument yet!!

	> My question is how does a gm tube measure beta?

It appears the RD 8901 has some slits on the right side

of the case where the GM tube is located. Energetic beta

particles could get through a thin wall GM tube if not

blocked by the case. Then the uR/hr reading would

not be accurate for a gamma exposure measurement.

There is an English manual (of sorts) for the RD 8901 at

http://www.littoclime.com/pdf/manual_uk.pdf

More RD 8901 specifications (in French) are at

http://www.littoclime.com/pdf/RD8901tech.pdf

The dimensions of the Geiger tube are also shown.

Another French site for information is
