RE: United Way Supports Anti-Nukes



Peter you are exactly correct!  When I was @oak ridge

national lab - this is exactly the way united way

worked. You could earmark your donation for one

charity and they would take the  other people's

unspecified amounts and donate itfill fil  in that gap

that they already apportioned for.



One question for all who worked at national

labs.(please respond off-line) Was anyseverelyerly

pressured to give to the UW by esection-headhead (and

division head)?  At ORNL they wanted 100% of their

people to give and usually got it.  If not you were

particularly harassed by numerous others in their

section.  This was especially true in the late 1970 s

and 1980s.



This is why I donate only to groups I want to , not to

the united way.



By the way isn't protesting nuclear power plants

lobbying the government?????
