BWCHPS CHP Course Announcement



The Baltimore Washington Chapter of the Health Physics Society will be

presenting its annual Certified Health Physics Exam Review and Professional

Development Course January to May of 2003.



The course is designed for the Health Physicist who plans to take Part I

and/or Part II of the ABHP exam, or for the HP or CHP who wishes to improve

and refresh their knowledge of Health Physics. Continuing Education Credit

(32 CEUs) will be available for any CHP wishing to take the course.



Representative topics are listed on the right. Lectures will be presented by

experts in the corresponding subject material. The course will begin on a

Saturday with full-fledged Part I and Part II-type exams, and a second exam

will be given the last week of the course. A discussion of test-taking

preparation and strategy are provided. Part I and Part II-type problems

will be reviewed.

Students will participate in writing exam questions. Texts will be Cember,

Cember and Johnsonıs Solutions Manual, Bevelacquaıs Part I book, Moe, and

Schleienıs Radiological Health Handbook.



The resident course includes 45 hours of classroom lectures with assigned

homework problems, and 45 hours of homework problem review. Partial

scholarships are available to students who are in need of financial

assistance. To apply for a scholarship, state how much you can reasonably

pay and the reason paying the full cost would be a hardship. Enclose the

statement and a check for what you can afford to pay with your application.

If you are not offered the course at the reduced rate, your check will be

returned.



COST: $700 per student ($625 if received by Dec. 31, 2002), payable to



Baltimore Washington Chapter, HPS.



Deadline: January 31, 2003.



CORRESPONDENCE STUDENTS: The texts and handout material will be sent to you,

along with the homework assignments

and answers.



INCENTIVE: For resident or correspondence students who submit an application

with check or money order by Dec. 31, 2002, the

cost will be reduced to $625.



LOCATION: Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS), 4301

Jones Bridge Road, Bethesda, MD 20814.



DATES: Class lectures on Thursday, problem-solving sessions on following

Tuesday. Every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. starting

Jan 23rd
