Re: Dirty bombs, LNT, and Removing False Fears

John and others concerned with radiation benefit/harm,

C reactive protein does surpass cholesterol as prognosticator of heart

attack, stroke and death (recently flooding the media). It also has been

related to clots in the very public Womens Health Initiative where

women who took estrogen-progesterone had more clots vs placebo (but I

believe non-smokers not, when data disclosed). In Crohn's Disease

(terrible colitis) improvement also follows CRP decrease, and CRP

appears to be a measure of inflammation, like a smoothing of fever

readings. What do you think of CRP use as a quicker, more convenient

measure to predict heart disease and death in a placebo study of 0.1 to

1.0 R/Hr from uranium ore under the mattress of persons with CRP>4

mgm/L?

I believe over-regulation of low dose radiation is increasing clots and

cancer in areas with < 0.1 cGy/year, like most of the USA coast,

considering the lesser rates in areas with higher background. This

belief is suggested by the numerous animal and human studies on

Muckerheide's list and set up by Luckey's book on Radiation Hormesis.

The $100B for "clean-up" taken from the economy is a much more credible

cause of deaths than Goffman's LNT extrapolations beyond the data of

cancer deaths from LDRadiation.

Best Wishes

Howard Long
