Let me see:
1.0 mrad/hr X (1 mrem/1 mrad) X 8 hrs/day X 365 days per year = 2920 mrem/yr
Yet, it is generally recognized that radiation effects cannot be demonstrated below 10,000 mrem/yr. Either you will need an awful lot of "subjects," or a higher dose rate. See http://hps.org/documents/radiationrisk.pdf
