HEALTH PHYSICS INSTRUCTOR 3

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM (PTP)



RADIOLOGICAL SAFETY, ASSESSMENT AND TRAINING (RSAT)



EXEMPT, EEO-1 Category - Professional (Grade 12)



PURPOSE:  To develop and coordinate health physics courses for clients such

as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Department of Energy (DOE), and

Food and Drug Administration (FDA), etc.; and to develop and present

lectures and laboratory exercises in all courses.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:



1) Managing and coordinating one five-week Health Physics and Radiation

Protection course, two one-week Medical Uses of Radionuclides courses, and a

two-week course for students from Historically Black Colleges and

Universities (HBCU) and other courses as assigned



2) Developing and presenting technical lectures in health physics and

medical physics.



OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE:



1) Developing and presenting laboratory exercises in all PTP courses.



2) Developing new courses and writing proposals for new courses for clients.



3)  Performing health physics related duties in support of ORAU and Oak

Ridge Institute for Science and Education operations.



REQUIREMENTS:  Master's degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Physics, Medical

Physics or similar field and six to ten years of job related experience.

Ph.D. highly desired. Certification by the American Board of Health Physics

highly desired. Health physics/medical physics experience, including

performing radiological measurements, analyzing data, implementing radiation

protection regulations, and supervising radiation protection programs for

employees required. Instructor experience helpful, but not required.
