John, I hope you are only joking. The outcome of such an effort would be nothing less than total loss of credibility and would only serve to fuel the perceptions that rad is very bad. Trying to implement such propaganda would require that you not only swear all knowledgeable participants to complete secrecy but you would also have to ensure no one every conducted any rad monitoring or sampling in the area or the lie would be exposed. With the ready availability of monitoring equipment and the distrust that already exists I would expect any cover up to be very short lived. As I believe we all know honesty is a fundamental requirement for gaining trust and credibility.

radioactivity from the general population! The bomb can do local damage
and the radioactivity will do little real damage even over the lifetime
of the exposed individuals. If they are never told of the

would happen if we did not look for radioactivity or radiation? What
would happen if we took our readings and called them all zero to the
press and the government controllers? Would we all not be better off in

was a MAJOR release. But they did not tell anyone about it for what, 25
years! Nor do most people in the US, or the world for that matter, know
anything about that event. Perhaps this would be a better way to handle
the dirty bomb scenario.
