Question Balliunas, B. Cohen, York et al - DDP, Phoenix, July

Ruth,

Your comment on ozone hole and on CO2 making global warming damage would

enliven questioning of Baliunas, Soon, Balling and Idso presentations

Sat Sun. July 12, 13 at Phoenix Airport Marriott.

"Risk Analysis of Wastes from Generating Electricity" is Bernie Cohen's

subject. Cohen's contenders and supporters on this list will be able to

question him and use his data for their own presentations.

"What Rescuers Would See After a Nuclear Detonation" is Ed York's

subject Shane Conner of radmeters4u.com and OISM's Art Robinson will

present "Practical Civil Defense". To mitigate preferential exposure,

I'll have my palmRAD from www.berkeleynucleonics.com - if airport

security allows.

Health Physicists (whether or not having been through the third degree

to "doctor") do find themselves at home with Doctors for Disaster

Preparedness. View the program and low cost at www.oism.org/ddp

McElroy et al published a paper in SCIENCE in 1978 correlating ozone layer depletion with world production of CFC aerosols, and Rowland and Molina received a Nobel prize for elucidating the depletio mechanism, which involves photochemical formation of a CF2Cl. free radical that sequesters atomic oxygen from the ozone/atomic O-molecular O2 equilibrium. The same mechanism holds for reaction of NO in the stratosphere with ozone. There is an excellent article about this by Rowland in Scientific American about 6 or 7 years ago.
