RE: If you do Science, use the Scientific Method!

'kay......Weigh in time. LNT schmell NT. Let's apply some common genetic history to this. No offense intended to any whom have offered up on this one, but here's my humble take on it:

We, as a species, evolved into what we are today from the primordial ooze in a veritable plethora of background radiation levels....and we thrived in said environment .... so much so that we ended up becoming (arguably) the most advanced group of bipedal misfits to date. There is no marked reduction in evolutionary prowess indicated by greater or lower environmental levels of radiation. The study has been ongoing since we were still developing opposable thumbs and the result is ...... us..... you, me, the dork down the street, your doctor, your brother...... even your mother-in-law. Find a map which indicates average background radiation levels around the globe and just try to correlate a marked difference which meshes with the varying levels.

We are HERE.....to me that is evidence enough for the lack of harm and even potential benefit from low level radiation.

I think it is good policy to be prudent until we have the clear evidence or a unified and well confirmed model that eliminates this reasonable doubt.

And, I think if the consensus is that we do not know the effects in the low dose or low-dose rate region, and those effects could include benefits, then it is not accurate to say that assuming harm is prudent.
