Good point, but it's not just silica.  According to the International

Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), fibrous erionite (CAS No.

66733-21-9), a zeolite-family mineral exposing the intermountain west

public, has been detected in samples of road dust in Nevada.  Erionite

was first listed by the IARC in its Seventh Annual Report on Carcinogens

as a Group 1 known human carcinogen (e.g., plural mesothelioma).
